Skill Up Tennessee
Jobs are available but employers struggle to find skilled workers. People want to work but may not be aware of the skills they need. The goal of this program is to help individuals reach their employment potential and become self-sufficient. A case management component can allow funding for testing fees, tuition, uniforms, gas cards, etc. If a person receives SNAP benefits but not TANF- they are eligible for Skill Up TN! Life in the State of Poverty
This group simulation allows participants to walk in the shoes of an impoverished family for a month. They are tasked with paying bills, caring for their children, and meeting unexpected challenges. This is a great in-service training for your teachers and support staff; a group of college age soon-to-be-professionals; religious organizations; and others who serve individuals with limited resources. The goal is to increase sensitivity to the complex issues experienced by those living in poverty every day. We would love to hold this simulation with your group!
